Process

From first conversation to your own domain.

Our website design process has five steps and one person you talk to the whole way through. The first version comes together in days, not months: V the Barber went from first build to live, with online booking, in 5 days.

The website design process, step by step.

The same five steps for every build, with the person you first talk to doing the work at every one of them.
  1. Step 1: Tell us about your business

Four quick questions, about two minutes. Answer them on the preview form, or call or text (612) 453-2276. Prefer to meet? We’ll come to your shop anywhere in the south metro.

  2. Step 2: We build a preview of your homepage

On your real business, free. Your name, your services, your hours and your photos, in a working page you can open on your phone. Not a mockup, and not a template with your logo dropped in.

  3. Step 3: You review it on your phone

Tap through it the way a customer would and tell us what to change. Love it: half to finish, half at launch (websites from $500). Not for you: you owe nothing. Once you say yes, we build out the rest of the pages and you review those the same way.

  4. Step 4: Launch on your domain

We connect your domain or help you register one, switch on the security certificate, redirect any old page addresses and leave your email where it is. Then the site goes live.

  5. Step 5: Care plan from $75/mo

Hosting, security, updates, monitoring and two content edits every month, month to month. When prices, hours or services change, you send the change and we make it. What the care plan covers.

Days, not months. Here’s the record.

Every date below is real, from the four businesses whose sites we built and run. We don’t promise a clock. We show you what already happened.

What you bring, and what we handle.

Owners are busy. The build is set up so the work lands on us, and your part fits between customers.

You bring

  • About two minutes for four questions, or one short conversation
  • Your logo and photos, if you have them
  • An honest reaction to the preview
  • Access to your domain, or a yes to registering one in your name
  • A final look before it goes live

We handle

  • Design and layout, around how your customers buy
  • The first draft of every word on the site
  • Every page, custom-coded, with no page builder underneath
  • Testing on real phones before you ever see it
  • Search basics: titles, descriptions, a sitemap, structured data
  • Your domain, the security certificate, redirects and email
  • Hosting, security updates and monitoring after launch

Text us the change. We make it.

Our sites have no editor to learn and no login to lose. You send the new hours or the new price, by text or email, and the site gets updated for you.

How much of my time does a website build take?

Very little. About two minutes for the four questions, a short conversation, and however long you want to spend tapping through the preview. We write the first draft of the words ourselves, so there’s nothing to prepare before we start.

What if I don’t like the preview?

Tell us what’s off. Often it comes down to a few changes, and we make them. If it still isn’t right for your business, you owe nothing, and there’s no invoice for a preview.

I already have a website and a domain. What happens to them?

Your current site stays up while we build, so nothing changes for your customers until launch day. Then we point your domain at the new site, redirect the old page addresses and leave your email exactly where it is. Our redesign guide covers the switch step by step.

What speeds a build up or slows it down?

A small local business site comes together in days, not months, and most delays come from waiting. It moves fastest when you review the preview the day it arrives, have photos of your real work ready to send, and can log in to your domain (or let us register a new one). It slows down while we wait on a login to the old domain or host, on decisions that need three people to sign off, or when an online store or custom features get added mid-build.

How long does a bigger site take?

Longer, and you’ll know how much longer before we start. Online stores, several locations and custom features get a written scope and a schedule on the call. Our guide to how long a website takes walks through each stage.

Can we meet in person?

Yes. We’re based in Lakeville and will come to your shop anywhere in the south metro. Most of a build happens by phone, text and a shared preview link, so meeting is up to you.

What happens after launch?

The site runs on a care plan from $75/mo: hosting, security, updates, monitoring and two content edits a month, month-to-month. When you want more calls, SEO, ads and follow-up can stack on top of the site.

See your site before you pay.

Tell us about your business and we build a preview of your homepage, free. You review it on your phone. Love it, and we finish the build. Not for you, and you owe nothing.
