Burnsville is where Interstate 35 splits into 35W and 35E, and the city fits a regional mall, an urban-style downtown and a riverside industrial corridor into about 25 square miles. Each of those draws a different customer, and most of them find you on a phone first.

County Road 42, Heart of the City and Highway 13

  • County Road 42. The retail spine: the heavily traveled strip that grew up around Burnsville Center after the mall opened in 1977. Shoppers here compare you with the store next door, and drivers need to know which side of 42 you're on and which entrance to use, so prices, hours, photos and parking notes belong on your site.
  • Heart of the City. The downtown around Nicollet Avenue and Burnsville Parkway, home to Nicollet Commons Park and the Ames Center, which opened in 2009. Since December 2021 the METRO Orange Line has run from downtown Minneapolis to its Heart of the City station, so some visitors arrive by bus, not by freeway.
  • Highway 13. The river corridor and a freight route for local industrial companies. When your customers are other businesses, the website works like a sales sheet: what you make or fix, how far you'll travel and how to ask for a quote.

What Google weighs, and what you control

Google names three main inputs to its local results: relevance, distance and popularity. You can't change distance: a search from the Burnsville Center parking lot and one from Nicollet Commons Park start about two miles apart, and Google measures from the person searching.

Distance refers to how far each business is from the customer who's searching.

Google Business Profile Help (opens in a new tab)

What you control is how precisely your site and your Google Business Profile say where you are. To a customer, the mall strip on 42, Heart of the City and the Highway 13 corridor are different trips, so name yours along with the cross street and the entrance, and keep your hours identical in both places. A Heart of the City restaurant can go a step further and post pre-show hours on its homepage for Ames Center nights. Keeping all of that current is the job of our local SEO service.

Burnsville web design you can open right now

Phantom Fades is a barbershop on County Road 42. On July 20, 2026, the day the owner signed, the domain was bought, the site went live on it and 8 city pages shipped. Every service has its own page with a Booksy deep link, and an Open Now badge reads the shop's real hours.

V the Barber, an independent barber who cuts in Burnsville, went from first build to live on his own domain, with Square online booking working, in 5 days. We also printed him QR cards for booking and for Google reviews. His profile had 1 review before the site; on June 22, 2026, six days after the review card went out, it showed 8, averaging 4.9 stars.

Between them, the two sites carry pages for nine nearby cities, each written around its own roads and neighborhoods. Near-identical city pages are what Google's spam policies (opens in a new tab) describe as doorways, and we don't build them.

Questions Burnsville owners ask

How much does a website cost for a Burnsville business?

Websites start at $500 for a typical small-business site of about 5 pages, and you see a free preview of your homepage before paying anything. Care plans start at $75/mo for hosting, security, monitoring and 2 content edits a month, and both Burnsville sites on our work page run on one today. Larger sites, online stores and multi-location builds are scoped on a short call; our website cost guide explains what moves the price.

Can my site include pages for Savage, Apple Valley and other nearby cities?

Yes, if you really serve those cities and each page says something true about them. That's how we approached the 8 city pages on Phantom Fades' site and the 7 on V the Barber's.

Some of our customers come on the Orange Line. What should the site say?

Name the stop. The Orange Line's southern end is Heart of the City station, so if you're within walking distance, put the station and the walk from it right beside your address, in plain words like “two blocks east of the station.” Use the same wording on your Google Business Profile so riders see it wherever they look you up.

I already have a website. Do I have to start over?

No. We carry over your text, photos and any pages that already bring in search traffic, then redirect the old addresses so existing links keep working. The full process is in our guide on keeping your Google rankings through a redesign.
